Miss Nellie Maiks, '15 has re turned to her home here after teaching for the past year near Winnsboro. She has been elect ed to teach in the Colunbia City School next year. Miss Doris Becker has return ed from her school and was a visitor on our campus Thursday. The Alumni Association met at the Co-ed home on Marion street last Wednesday afternoon. About fifty members were pre sent. A very interesting talk on "The Higher Education of Women" was given by Miss Southard. YEAR OF SUCCESS FOR UNIVERSITY (CONINUED FROM P.\OE ONE.) sophic, will be the junior orators. At this open joint meeting of the two societies the Carolinian medals, The Garnet and Black medals, and other medals, will be presented to the winners. Tuesday night is alumni night, and after a meeting in chapel, at which prominent alumni will be heard, there will be the annual alumni dinner. The week is always a gay one socially, coming to a fitting close with the University German Club's annual June ball on Wed nesday night. This ball is con sidered one of the prettiest and most elaborate college functions given in the South each year, y and many alumni members of the club always return for it. The commencement dance will be on Monday night in the uni versity gymnaium, and there are always other entertainments and receptions for the senior classes and the undergraduates. Carolina Defeats Wofford. The Carolina baseball team ended the season by defeating Wofford College at Spartanburg Thursday by the score 3 to 2. The pitching of Newton was the feature of the game. James Purdy, otherwise known as " Ram," recently underwent an operation for appendicitis. He is now in a hospital in Sum ter.
