LITERARY SOCITIES TO HAVE, DEBATE To Revive Old Inter-Society De. bate- For Commencement. The two literary societies have arranged to revive the inter-so. ciety debate, ithat annually took place until about eight years ago. This contest will be held Mon day night of- commericement week. This is the regular so ciety night of the week on which :he two literary societies have their annual- celebration and award diplomas to the graduat ing members. This program has been moved to the morning hour on Monday. Members of the Euphradian and Claricsophic societies are looking forward with great in terest to the debate which wil] be held between their represen tatives during commencement week. A committee- composed of D. S. Polier, J. D. Btandenburg;,,L. W. Weeks drew.up rules for the coming con,test. The essence of these rules is as follows: The debate is to be held. each year in the. University chapel on Monday night of commenzement week. - There are to be' twc members' of each team. Each debater has 20. minutes at his disposal but he cannont spend more than ten minutes on.rebut tal. The query is to be selected by a committee - of five, .composed of two members appointed by the president of society, and a fifth member, a University professor, chosen by the other four members of. the committee, Each society is to oppoint its committeemen not later than the first regular meeting .in Febru ary. After choice of query, sides will be chosen. by lot. Five judges, unconnected with the University, are to be chosen by the debaters. No individual honors are to be decided upon. Each member of the winning team is awarded a ten dollar monogram. The monograms are to be paid for by the two socie ties, regardless of the winner. The presiding officer is to come from the society that won the preceding contest. Reception to Members of Senior Class. The Co-ed's, at their home on Marion Street, gave a reception te the graduating class, on Thurs. day night from 8:30 until 11. .A number of students attended this delightful entertainment and enjoyed thoroinghly the punch served and pleasant company of the charming yourig ladies.
