LAW DEPARTMENT "Ignorantia legis neminem excusat" The Moot Court held its regu lar session Thursday night March 9, with a,good crowd ih attendance. In the absence o the Chief Justice, Mr. Merrimoi acted as Chief Justice by the re quest of the president of th, Law Association. Messrs. Jone; and Love acted as Associat Justices. The case of the Stat vs. Wilson was called for hear ing. The defendant, Jones Wilson was indicted and tried for dis turbance of divine worship, un der statute 505 of the crimina code of 1912. The defendan was found guilty in the cour below and appealed to the high er court on the ground of erro: of the lower court in the instrue tion to the jury. The court re manded the case for a new trial Messrs. Felder and Blatt re presented the appellant, an( Messrs. Heyward and Harrisor appeared for the affirmative. CIVIC CLUB MEMBERS ENJOY BANQUEl Dr. Reed Smith Presides-Bel :ser and Cappelman Speak. The Civic Club of the Univer sity gave a banquet at the Jef ferson Hotel Monday night This is an annual event and sine the organization of the Club. has been looked forward to b3 the members. Practically the entire mem bership were present Monda3 night. Mr. Cappelman, of Colum bia was a guest of the club, an( spoke on "The Road Ahead.' The Club was organized whil< Mr. Cappleman was in the lam school at the University. H4 was a charter member and tool an active part in the organiza tion of the Club. Mr. Ervin Belser. of Columbia also, an alumnus of Carolina and a Rhodes scholar to Oxford spoke on "The Dangers of De mocracy." Orin F. Crow, pres ident, and R. W. Wade wer the members of the club t< speak. Dr. Reed Smith, of th English Department, and fo several years faculty advisor fo the Club, was toastmaster. The officers for this tei nm are president, 0. F. Crow; vie' president, J. D. Featherstone secretary, Win. Reynolds; treas urer, L. B. Harrison; faculty ad visor, Dr. Josiah Morse. Practically all members wer< on hand for the banquet Monda: night, and were unanimous ii saying it was one of the best i: the history of the Club.
