EXCELLENT PROSPECTS FOR BASEBALL SEASON Manager Porter Announces Interesting Schedule for Gamecock Nine. Eleven! Games Secured for Home Diamond. No Dates Fixt. The pr-ospects for an excellent baseball season are very bright right now, and judging from the colleges and universities whose name; appear on the schedule, the Gamecocks will meet a great many worthy opponents. Manager Porter is unable as yet to submit any definit dates on which other colleges will be playd, but he is striving. not onily to giv the team an excellent trip, but to hav a great many fine gaines on the home diamond as well. The games which will be playd here are: Guilfo'd, two games. Virginia, one game. WVake Forest. two games. V. P. I., two games. W('fford, one game. Washington & Lee, two games. Furman, one game. Those games playd on the t.ips are: Guilford, at Guilford. Virginia, at Charlottesville. Washington & Lee. at Lexing ton. V. P. I., at hcksburg. V. M. I., at l,exington. Wof'ord, at Spartan burg. A game will be arranged with some team to be playd in Green wo-)d during the week of the State Oratorical (ntest. Clem son will very probably be playd there that week. Mr. Porter is to be congratu lated on securing such an able schedule, laboring as he is under the disadvantag-e of hav ing a late start. Nearly all col leges hav arranged their sched tiles and closd them, and it is very difficult work arranging games after all other schedules are practically complete. Announcement. The Civic Club will meet in the green room of Flinn Hall Friday evening at 7:45. Sporting Rods Here. The needs of Japan, China, India, A frica and other heathen countries were pointed out and contrasted with the overcrowded professions o our own country.
