Cr.,-A A : yeay ,interesting program was rendered-in which every phase of student life was represepted .by a :speaker. , -The literary sociqtjea w ee representw ed by their presidents, Merri mon, Euphradian, and Crow, Clariosgphic. , ac4 speaker, em phasized the importance of the literary society as a' part of' col lege work. The publications were represented,d,by : their re-., spective,,ediitors-in,cbief.. Han. na spoke in behalf of The Caro-. linian, and Harrison represented THE GAMECOCK. Mr. King gave a splendid talk on the Y. M. C. A. He stressed the need of morality and fellow ship among the students. Coach Edgerton. who was .. the last speaker, gave some good -advice in regard to the social activities in the campus,and closed with a iscussion of the footbali condi :o 1s. The post nlesing .feature of he program was the vocal soles -en..ered by Miss Engels of Chi )!a College. Miss Engels has a autiful voice, and she com m led the applause of every arolinian. A weekly University newspa per will be issued by the Exten sion Division to keep the tius tees, the alumni, the student body and the public in general in touch wvith what the Univer sity is doing. Dr. Smith, who has been released from half teaching tirhe in orde L) initiate the Extension work,_ will e<it this weekly paper. It is largely through the efTorts of Dr. Smith' thht the University is undertak ing this work. New Lighting System.
