The list is, of course, too long to publish. There is a book for every reader, and there should be a reader for every book. Practically all the unbound magazines, hitherto buried in closets, are in process of prepa ration for binding. It is slow work, as many missing or muti lated numbers have to be sup plied, and an effort is being made to fill in the gaps in the files. When it is done, there will be no missing volumes in the sets and references can nearly all be found and easily used. Another very important work soon to be undertaken by the li brary staff is the compilation of a bulletin giving a dictionary catalog (author and title) of the "South Carolinians" in the library. Still another improvement to be made during the vacation is a change in the charging system. EUPHRADIANS HELD PRELIMINARY FRIDAY Finals for Debates and Declama. tions Next Monday. The preliminary to select five men to speak in the Euphradian declaimer's contest was held in the society hall Friday night. The winners will speak in the fi nals which are to be staged on Monday night. The contest was open to freshmen and sophomore members of the society. There is a great deal of interest taken in this contest every year, and the finals Monday night promise to be hotly contested. Those taking part were: Boulware, Turtletaub, Hodges, McGill, Rich, Brearley, H. C., Collier, Bates, Brown, Poliakoff. The judges were: Dean Iaker, Dr. Wauchope, and Prof. Reed Smith. The annual society debate will also take place Monday night. This debate is open to juniors and seniors. Demos Jones and Solomon Blatt will uphold the affirmative, while D. S. Polier and J. D. Featherstone will up hold the negative. The query is Resolved, "That the United States should immediately be gin to increase her navy." This is a query that is being widely discussed and the debater's should be able to get some good material. SENIOR TESTS TO BEGIN ON MAY 21 Upper Classmen Will Have Ex aminations Soon.
