Nichol- I son is a hard and conscientious student, standing near the top U of his class, and well deserves ' the:honor,which has been be stowed upon him. Moot Court Appointments. Due to the delay in receiving the cac, which gave the attor ney8 insufficient time to prepare the'same, no Moot Court was held Thursday, However, tl e association'will' convene next week. COACH "SID" SMITH" LEFT LAST MdNDAY Sees His' .Team Wii -Double. header Before Departing., "Sid" Smith, former coach of the-Carolina-baseball-.team, left Monday to join the Pittsburg National League team at Nash vilMe. During all his former l yetrs of baseball with Atlanta, l Minneapolis, and Cleveland, he has been a back-stop. Coach Smith says he can play third base better than receive and for this reason he has asked for a tryout at this position. Hanus Wagner, at one-time the great est ball player in the world, played this position last season, but will' probably not -play this year.because of-'his age. "Sid" Smith is a heavy hitter and speedy fielder, and may play at* third for the Pirates. Carolina- wishes -success to him. He has put out a good~ team for Carolina this year, and no one denies that the ma terial was the.'worst' ever seen. ' The' con testants are not limited to the members of -the societies but any bona fide student of the-'Univer sity is eligible for the tean. The University has establish(d no mean reputation in literary circles among Southern colleges. Last year in the Carolina-Geor gia-Virginia Triangular De bate our affirmative lost to Geor gia, but our' negative won over Virginia. In. the same year Carolina won the trophy. cup.. in debate from Davidson and se cond place in the Southern ora torical contest. The contestants are working hard to maintain the University's reputation. The negative will hold their primary on April 10, the affirma tive on April 14. Y.M. C. A. The'entire cabinet of the Y. M. C. A. has been elected for next year. Its personnel is as follows: Dabbs, president; Crow, vice-president; Brearley, secre tar'y; Waters; Treasurer; Dan ner, membership committee; Hanna, bible study committee; Harrison, religious meetings; Jones, A. M.. committee on new students. All of these men have been di rectly or indirectly con nected with the Y. M. C. A. activities and have the association at heart.
