In looking over the personnel
of the Genetial A$sembly, which
convened Tuesday. we note tbie
striking fact that twenty-six
of its membeta are either griadu
ates or men who were once affili

men; in the Senate there are six.
This list does not include those
men who were graduated from
the other departments of the

The law association had the

Thursday evening by Mr. R.
Beverly Herbeht, a protninent
member of .the Columbia bar.
Mr. Herbert directed his re
marks chiefly to the proper way
of conducting a case. He show
ed by illustrations the many
mistakes a young lawyer makes
and how he would later profit by
them. His discussion of . how
a cross-examination should be
conducted was especially inter
esting.. The members of the as
sociation enjoyed his address
very much.
