ENGINEERING SOCIETY J. N. Arthur, Editor The greatest feature of the trip to Ridgeway last week was the night spent in camp. The two principle difficulties were the cold and rain. Prof. Seibert says he had to readjust himself every hour for temperature changes. As the boys were afraid to build a fire near the haystack they moved the hay stack to the fire. The fun was great until the rain came at 4 A. M. Sunday morning. The rest of the time went swimmingly. We have not seen King or Mobley at the gym. this week. They have de cided that another bath this winter would be a sheer waste. All are convinced that another such outing would be vastly too good for them. Indoor Sports. c The fcotball game was over, and the parlor fire was great, A long haired maiden and a youth were lingering rather late, They talked of punts and drop kicks, and found it rather d tame, Until Cupid donned his nose guard and butted in the game. Quoth he. "It's mighty funny if I don't arrange. a match," So he lined the cosy couple up and made them toe the scratch. The youth was growing ner vous 'neath the weight of new found bliss, And he kind of thought the scrimmage should end up with a kiss. He charged upon the center, he tackled left and right. And the way they held that chair "for downs" was sim ply out of sight. He tried an osculation, just an amateur affair, But he lost it on a fumble, and instead it struck the air. Then as he landed on her ear, he heard the maiden say: "You're penalized for holding, Jim, likewise for offside play." With set teeth he tried anoth er, this time succeeding fine, For he scored an easy touch down on the Crimson two yard line, And as they sat there by the grate, communing soul to soul, TI e parlor door swung open anad-father kicked a goal. --ORANGE AND PURPLE. T1he Christmas Carolinian will be issued from the University Press Monday,.neerrLe,. 21. DR. WEATHERFORD RAISES MONEY Students Agree to Give Extra Dollar Flinn Hall Fee. Mr. W. D. Weatherford, known to college men throughout the South, was a visitor to the Y. M. C. A. this week in the interest of the Blue Ridge Con ference. Plans were discussed for raising funds from the stu dents to erect a cottage at Blue Ridge. As a result a motion was passed in the student body to make it compulsory for every student to pay one dollar to the Y. M. C. A. at each term for the purpose of liquidating the pre sent debts of the association, the remainder to go towards building a cottage for the Uni versity in accordance with Mr. Weatherford's plans. Dr. Weatherford delivered a short, but helpful address in chapel on Wednesday morning. Our Advertisers. These are the men who make our publication possible.
