CO-ED DEPARTMENT Miss Fromberg, Editor Varsity girls not at home; all busy making gym. suits. * * * Dr. Morse insists that he has three fairies in his psychology class, one by name and two by nature. The co-eds have submitted to the medical examination, and Dr. Watson pronounced them a healthy lot. ** Mr. Blackburn has arranged with the co-eds to give them gymnastic training twice a week in the afternoons. Basketball, one of the most interesting fea tures in athletics, will be includ ed. All the girls are enthusias tic, and are practicing with vim, meaning to perfect themselves and in the near future challenge any suffragette team. Hurrah for "Ram!" The officers of the Garnet and Black have already started their campaign for the 191i annual. We have every reason to think that this year's production will be a howling success, for besides the efficient business manager, there is an energetic assistant behind it, who is generally char acterized as one who "buts things forward," otherwise known as "Ram" Purdy. Infirmary Notes. We are pleased to hear that the health of the University students has been excellent up to the present time. Mrs. Mad den of the infirmary says it has been the very best. The infirm ary has been practically empty since the opening of the Univer sity. Prof. Wardlaw Speaks. Professor Patterson Wardlaw delivered an address to the County Teacher's Association of Darlington today. Yesterday he lectured to the people of Antioch school district at the school building. "In India, I first saw a man eating tiger,'" boastfIully an nounced the famous traveiler. Pooh! that's nothing,'' said mild looking man edging toward the door. "I once saw a man eating rabbit " We note that Pennsylvania University has been given $1,000,000 to be used in the study of skin diseases. What about starting up a little skin game dlown here? PROFESSORS TO GIVE SERIES OF LECTURES Interchange of Chairs by Lead ing Universities. A plan has been completed whereby professors of the uni versities of North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Vanderbilt will enterchange for a week and each give a series of lectures at the other. Dr. Vanderbilt, head of the department of chemistry of the University of North Carolina will !ecture here for one week in Febuary. He will lecture to the various classes of chemistry and physics, and will also give two popular lectures. President Currell goes to Van derbilt for a week in March. The subject of his lectures have not been announced but most probably they will be some phase of English literature. LaMOTTE TO LEAVE ,THE UNIVERSITY Goes to Erskine to Coach Bas ketball Team. N. G. LaMotte, a member of the var.;ity football squad, leaves Nov. 16 to coach the Erskine basketball team. He will remain there three weeks and then re turn to his studies at Carolina. To see that his team is still pro gressing, LaMotte will go up again for one week in January. It is to be regretted that La Motte will not he here for the Carolina basketball team, for he had been counted on as a regular member this year. This is not Mr. LaMotte's first experience in basketball. He coached Newlcrry two years ago. Every student wishes suc ees to Mr. LaMotte and his team. A Suggestion. In our humble opinion, the committee appointed to see about building a new fence around the athletic field, could (1o no better than to get the valuable services of one who immortalized himself this summer in the mountains of Kentucky, both as a bard, at night, and a post hole digger in the day time. The proud gentle man holding these honors is known on the campus as the Hion. P. K(. Smith. We are going to have a full crop) of Freshmen pcets this year. .Just listen to this: "Mid the pleasure3 and pal aces Though we may roam, When the stomach is empty, There's no place like home."
