Besides this, the follow ing inscription will also be en graved; "L L. B. '15 U. S. C." To Help Build Fence. At a meeting of the Senior law class held Thursday morning it was decided that the class, as a whole, do its share toward the rebuilding of the fence around the athletic field. The senti ment of the class was to pay for so many feet and have this por tion dedicated to the class. A committee was appointed to look after all particulars and report back to the class. Moot Court Meets. On Thursday night the Moot Court convened in regular ses sion. The case on trial was that of the State vs Hill, charged with murder. The jury after hear ing all'testimony in the case were hopelessly disagreed as to a verdict. A mistrial was or dered by the court. Crawford and Dinkins were the attorneys for the prose cution. Messrs. Griffith and Fort appeared for the de fendant. Professor Rucker act ed as Chief Justice. The jury was charged by Associate Justice Dufie, who in a clear and concise way stated the law as applicable to the facts of the case. The case was quite interesting, involving many questions of law, facts and evidence. Dccision Rendered. In the case of the State vs. John Friday, heard' on appeal last Thursday, a decision was handed down by Associate Jus tice Webster, affirming the ver dict of the lower court, which was guilty of murder. The de cision was concurred in by Chief Justice Thomas and Associate Justice Adams. In his decision of the case Associate Justi"e Webster gave a very clear analysis of the law' of murder and manslaughter. He also showed the essential diffrerence between the two, because the object of the appeal was to have the verdict reduced to manslaugh ter. He cited numerous South Catmdina cases to sustain each dfoint t'uled on, thus showing a thorough study of all the ques tions of law involved in the ap peal. Finley, Wallace and Henderson were chosen to play doubles. Simms is to represent Carolina in the singles. The State tournament was to be held in Greenville, but another place is being selected.
