Black Loses Mi, MceQowan, Wehmanrn, Mc.. 'Tebr, Boulware; Stoney, The closing of;the present scho lastic. year will witness the de rure, - by the graduation route, of six men who have been the mainstays of the Carolina eleven this -season. They are as follows: Captain John ,Mills, "Wop" Mc GoWan, "Mucho" Stoney,. Ned Wehmann, .Boulware and- Mc Teer. Big- John, who. -piloted the Gamecock, eleven through anoth er successful season this year, is one 6f the best tackles in the en tire'South and: was . recently se lected by Bill Streit, old Auburn and Washington and Lee star, as a tackle on his second All-South ern eleven. "Big Un's" playing has -always' been fast and heady, and his presence will be greatly missed next fall. "Wop" McGowan, alias Brann, is-another of the old guard to go. For the past few seasons he has been worked at tackle, but this tear-he was shifted to - quarter, where he made. good from, the jump. "Wop", is a dependable player and.his loss is greatly de-' plgred. Wehmann and McTeer have been.played at guard and tackle during the present year and each has put up a splendid exhibition, both in offensive and defensive work. The big gap made in the line will be hard to fill. Boulware, the Fairfield lad, who has played fullback through out the season just closed, is also sche'duled to leave nextJune. He has'put up a sterling brand of ball ever since he became a mem ber of the -varsity eleven and his work will not sodn be forgotten. "Mucho" Stoney, All-State center, graduates from the ada demic department of the Univer sity this year, but it is probable that he will return to'take up the study of law. -Stoney is one of the inaividual stars of the team and his'returh to college next session will be hailed with delight by all supporters of the Garnet and Black.
