CAROLINA WINS ON MUDDY FIELD Gamecdcka Gaff the Florida ' 'Gators on Davis Field. Edgerton's Men Get Away with the Game by Score of 13 to 0-.Hard Fought. Game. With the rain pouring down'in torrents, and the field a slippery mass of: mud and water, the Carolina Gamecocks displayed a complete' return to their old time form last Satu'day afternoon, and defeated the Florida 'Gators to the tune of 13 to0. The Carolina eleven worked like a well oiled machine, every man playing up tohis true foi-m, and fighting from the very first mrient bfVplajr until the last whistle blew. As usual, Dan -HeyWard was the star. The white haired son of Rion played one of the.best games ever seen on Davis Field. Time and time again he carried the ball down the field for sub stantial gains.' His longest run of tl e game was for 50 yards. His punting was nothing short of remarkable. The Florida team put-up a splendid fight, and proved them selves worthy' f?eien for the Garnet and Black warriors. The game .was expected to be a very ciose dine, 'some even predicting a victory for the Florida lads. However, ' the Gamecocks went in the game determined to win, and forcing the fighting at all times, came off with colors flying Credit 'is due' every man, who participated in last Saturday's victory. The whole'team played star ball. Considering the state of the field and the conditions uhder which the men were forced to play, their showing, was high ly commendable indeed. With the team playi ng in such fihe shape, thegames witlh Davidson aid tie Citadel should prove easy. .ai>t. Genney, Burkette, and Lotspeich were the. stars. for lorida.
