PROFESSOR WARDLAW AT PHILADELPHIA University Represented at Great Educational Association. Dr. Wardlaw, dean of the Educa tional Department, represented the university at a meeting of the De partment of Superintendents of the National Educational Association in Philadelphia last week. There were several contenporary. associations held along with this one, two of which were the council association and the Society College Teachers of Education. The council association controls the financial part of the national association. Professor Vardlaw, at the Society of College Teachers' of Education, met several prominent men who have written text-books that are used here at the university. While in Philadelphia he visited the University of Pennsylvania. On entering the campus he found that there was a student ready to escort him over the campus. This plan was organized by the students and is so arranged that a visitor can, at any time (luring the day, be shown over the campus. On questioning one of the students as to the government of the student body, he learned that there was a student committee from each build ing to look after the government of the students of that building. le learned further that this plan. of government did not tend to disasso ciate or make unpopular the students of a certain building with those of another building. To show how liberal the State is in supporting the umiversity one ex ample will suffice. The (lean of the psychological department told Pro fessor \Wardlaw that that depart ment alone was counting on a $oo, 00o appropriation this year. The university was fortunate in having Dr. Wardlaw as a representa tive at these meetings of national .importance, and his report to the faculty and students at chapel Mon day morning was received with great interest. The large number of old heads that will be back in the game makes his hope brighter, while the fact that "Red'' will be on the job to train the Game cocks puts confidence in everybody else.
