CLEMSON TEAM MET THURSDAY Tiger and Gamecock Quints Meet in Gymnasium-Signs Point to Good Affray. For the first time in the history of the two institutions, Tiger and Gamecock will clash in -basket ball in the gymnasium next Thursday night. It will be recalled that there have been athletic relations between football teams of Clemson college and the University of South Caro lina, and a few baseball games have been played, but never has the quin tette of the one lined up against the quintette of the other. So there are big issues at stake, as the poli tician would say, and each five will exert itself to the utmost to set a good precedent for future teams in Thursday's game. So far as the dope is available, Clemson has played but one game this season, that with Furman a week or so ago, when the Baptists were taken into camp by a comfort able score. The line-up of the team is unknown, but it can be lefinitely stated here, from observation of the work of other athletic teams of the college, that there is no dearth of speed[and skill and fighting spirit at Clemson, and 'these qualities will doubtless be exhibited in the game Thursday. The Gamecocks will line-up as they did against Newberrv, and if they put up a game comparable to that when the Lutherans were de feated, another contest should be de posited in the local treasury and another scalp dangle from the bill of the Rooster. Captain Watts, when seen on Davis field Thursday afternoon, was discussing the situation with Coach Driver. He was heard to remark: "That bunch don't look so bad, eh, Bigun. B'lieve me, they gonna to mop up with somebody."
