- MUSICIANS TO TOUR UPPER SOUTH CAROLINA Concerts to be Given by Orchestra and Glee Club, Combined, at Spartanburg, Greenville and Abbeville. The University Glee Club and the University Orchestra have combined forces and will make a tour next week of the Northern part of South Carolina. A concert will be given in Converse College auditorium Monday evening, at Greenville Fe male college, Greenville, Tuesday evening, and in the Abbeville the atre, Abbeville, Wednesday. Later in the season a tour will probably be made of the Southern and Eastern sections of the State. A splendid programme, varied in its numbers, has been arranged and the tour is expected to be most suc cessful. D. G. Perkins, president of the Glee Club, is acting as man ager and has all arrangements made to leave here on the Carolina Special Monday afternoon. The Glee Club gave a concert in chapel earlier in the winter, winning the praise of the entire audience. The orchestra has by its excellent work won an enviable record, and the two combined should prove a big drawing card. Students' Volunteer Conference Held at Due West. The delegates of the University to the Students' Volunteer confer ence at Due West have returned and report a very interesting and inspir ing meeting. At the opening meet ing Friday night Dr. Moffatt made every one feel at home by his pleas ant words of welcome. Then Dr. R. S. Magill of Egypt spoke to the 100 assembled delegates upon "'hie Call to the Mission Field." On Saturday morning there was a con ference on "Mission Study." After this Di-. E. C. Cronk of Columbia. who is connected with the Lutheran Layman's Missionary movement, addressed the convention upon "The Church's Opportunity." In the afternoon the delegates were enter tained at a very delightful reception given in their- honor b)y the people of Due \Vest. After the reception the delegates heard twvo very insp)ir ing addresses, one upon India b)y J. L. Murr-ay, and the other- upon China by Rev. WV. H-. H-udson, who has been a missionar-y there for some year-s and who knows the peco p)le at first hand. On Sunday the dlelegates heard two splendlid ser mons. The first in the morning b)y Dr,. Magill, and the other at night by Rev. Mr-. Hudson, who preached from the text, "I was not disob)edi ent to the heavenly vision." The dlelegates left for their homes wvith p)leasant memor-ies of Due West and its citizens. THE SICK Varn has been in the infirmary for the past week suffering with a bad foot. O'Brien has been unwell for sev eral days. Godbold is on the campus again after a stay in the infirmary. Every one is glad to see "Merry Widow" Hart out again after being sick for a few days.
