WIPING OUT A DISGRACE. At Last Steps Are Being Made to Pay the Publishers the Balance on the x9o8 Annual. The committee appoiited at a stu dent body meeting some time ago is now hard at work sending out circular letters to the graduates of classes 'o8, '09, '10, asking for aid, and getting the students to promise to pay at the beginning of the sec ond term their share of the debt still hanging over the 1908 Garnot and Black. Each member of the class of 'o8 is reques-ted to give $2.50, the other gradta-ted classes $2.00, tl<e present senior class $2.oo, and the three lower classes $i.oo each. This divides the burden about as it should be, -and with proper support the com mittee will have no difficulty in col lecting enough money to wipe out ,the debt. So far the men have responded liberally, and if the others (1o as well, the committee should be able to col lect the required amount by Feb ruary. Senior Officials Interviewed. Captain Wright: "That senior team is the 'classiest' bunch that has ever hit this old campius. They are 'on the job' and will be 'right there with the goods' wlhen the referee's whistle blows this afternoon. Take the backfield, they are as fast as a greased cannon ball shot from a. barrel of lard. The juniors' line w%oni't know wlhat hit them after they pick th-emselves up1)." Coaches Blackburn and Crawford said that no remarks were necessary, that the juniors would never know what hit them. They said that for several days a suspicious looking in dividual had been seen on top of the gymnasium with field glasses pointed in the direction of the senior team. They suspect that the in dividual is Brinsoti disguised as a woman and is -trying to get onto some of the plays they are uncork ing. A special policeman is on the lookout for him. John Ioey did not wait to be in terviewed, but bouncing up, said, "Sure, 'ho,' those juniors have a fat chance. I am getting up a pool of 2,000 'bones' to bet on the doughty seniors." And with that, the "Shake spearetite" wildly whirled his senior cane and displayed a roll of "long green." The "Buietyte" announced -that the senior parade would be held be fore the game, and that some "nifty" yells would be cut loose. Very coy and demure the chief spoisor, Miss B. Tillman Rainsford, said that she and Aliss E(lmolds would )e on the sideline in a dec orated carriage. At this juncture she became so embarrased at the (luestioning of the reporter that she refused to say anything further. Senator Topshe walked uip to the wvriter anl said: "1-al, boy, that banquet is going to be 'some swell.' T hope the seniors don't kill all dem juniors, cause some of dem arc good 'pool sharks.' From the above interviews it is seen that the seniors are on the job, so a great game may be expected this afternoon. University Alumnus Honored. At a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce of the city of Columbia, on November 28th, Mr. R. Beverly H-Terbert, of the law firm Elliot and Herbert, was unanimously el-ected president for the coming term. Mr. -erbert is an alumnus of the Uniiversity, andi though a compara tively young mati, is prominent in the public affairs of the city. Hie was also for soie time one of the alumni members of the athletic ad visory board of the University. Singing Practice. There wvill be a short meeting at Flinni H-all every Sunday evening immediately after supper to prac tice hymns with a view to improv ing the singing in chapel and at tihe weekly meetings of he Y. M.
