Election of '3 Class. Trailing like a pack of sheep behind their shepherd, the Freshies followed Dean Moore into chapel last Saturday afternoon. 'Twas a solemn affair. Drawn up in full dress parade just outside the doors were the Sopho mores and other higher classmen who wished to see that order prevailed and that Dean Moore gave no trouble to the poor lads in their election. The meeting began. Dean Moore called for some gentleman to state the object of the meeting. Overly anxi ous that the ball should be set to roll ing, Fresh Graydon moved that Mr. J. D. Mills be nominated for presi dent of the class. And here the poor boys were interrupted. Prof. Moore was determined -to know why he was holding such a noble assemblage in his care. Very Fresh Elliot "heroic ally" arose in the nick of time to state to state that "organization of a fresh man class and officers" was the object of the meeting. Fearing that Dean Moore would conduct the meeting in an undesirable way, A. G. Hart, class of '12, con monly known as "Merry Widow," walked in and assumed an air of im portance, while taking a front seat. He was of great aid, as he gave many good pointers that were of valuable service to the freshmen. However, his fears abated as mat tei-s proceeded. J. D. Mills was elected president, and after a lone in augural address, which by the way, was of great ability, assuned the no ble duties of that office, Through his marvellous control over the insurgent freshmen he finally was able to conduct them through an elec tion of the remaining officers of the class. The results of the ensuing elec tions were as follows: Vice-President, McTeer; Secretary and Treasurer, Watts; Historian, A. I. Green; Honor System Representative, Latshaw. Basketball Dope. At a meeting of the basketball team on last Friday, White was selected to act as captain in the Davidson game. The varsity squad was also tempo rarily ,salected, and it looks like a pretty fast bunch. The line-up for this special game is as follows McMurry, center. Vassey, left forward. White, right forward. C. Hamer, left guard. Jaroe, right guard. Substitutes: Knight, Kinard and Bolt. Coach Schofield is working hard to put out a winning team, andl he, as well as the students, ap)preciate the action of the Faculty in suspending exercises on Tuesday to allowv us to attendl the game and cheer. H-ap)ly sonme hoary-headed Swvain may say, "I've not spent it all. For I've enough to pay my wvay, T-see the game of ball.
