On Wednesday, in Bethel Methodist Church, Mr. Samuel Robinson, of Rock Hill, was married to Miss Ida Leitner, of Jennings. ' The ceremony was performed by Rer. W. H. Miller. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and John Leitner, of Jennings. Mi6s Bertha Ligon was married to Mr. Powell on Wednesday. The wedding took place at the residence of the bride's parents in the Greenbriar neighboorhood, and the ceremony was performed by Rev. J. D. Mr. Arthur Hays told a reporter the other day that he bad planted 5 acres in cotton and that he bad sold from the crop 2,920 pounds of lint, and expected another bale. Crosby returned home from Pennsylvania on Friday. He reports tbat bis son is improving and will soon be entirely restored to hsallh. Mr. Crosby wa3 in Winnsboro on Monday, and gave us a call. He comes home convinced tbat for the farmer there is no place like Fairfield. He says that he visited many of the farms in Pennsylvania, and he found tbat lands there which sell for ?50 to $100 per acre are really no bettor than land3 here which sell for $5 to $6 per acre, and that the lands in Fairfield produce a greater variety of crops. Mr. Crosby says that the farmers in Pennsylvania were astonished to learn how cheap lands sell here and what a variety of crops can be made. Mr. Crosby will write ns an article on the subject for a subsequent is?ue. CONVICTED OF FOK?EKY. The followiug faken from the State gives the result of the [trial of Charlie Moore, a Fairfield negro, by the United Stales District Court, now in session in Columbia. Ignorance of the majesty of the law got a negro into serious trouble. Charley Moore, a Fairfieid County negro, was sentenced to two years in tbe Albany penitentiary for forging a postoffice money order. Tbe order i was payable to Moore's father, and ; was received at Flint Hill postcffice | by Charlcv Moore. Tbe negro's lather l was expecting tbe order, and promised to torn it over to hie son, as he owed him an equtvalent sum. Charley Me?re went to Winnsboro, the nearest money order office, and tried to get the order cached. Postmaster Rion showed hira that it mnst first be endorsed by (he negro'* father, to whom it was ade pa) able, and mosj be endorsed in the presence of a witness. In a few days Charley Moore returned to Winnshoro with the money order duly eudorsed and received the money. It was afterward^ ascertained that trie negro's father had not endor.-ed the order, and hid nerer seen or h:*srd of it until he was questioned about it by Mr. Kiot?. McMascer passed away at half-p&st five o'clock on Wednesday evening.g As a last resort a second operai tion was performed oa Tuesday, bat he steadily grew worse, now and then rallying. Two trained nurse# were in | constant attendance, and everything ; possible was done. The death cf this popular young i physician will cause the profoundest sorrow, and the entire community is deeply grieved over his death. Dr. Mcilaster was the eldest son of the late Dr. J. R. McMaster, Sr., and was bom in Winnsboro, the hQ0Q9 of his ancestors, on December 3rd, 1*61. Bis early education was obtained at i 7'nn P/>11ftOTA Tn he attended the South Carolina Medical College, Charleston, S. C.,-but in the fall of 1885 he entered the Medical University of Baltimore, lid., where he was graduated in 1886. Immediacy npon bis graduation he began snccessfal practice of his profession in Winnsboro. In 1886 he was married to Miss Hattie Mobley, daughter of E. P. Mobley, Sr., and who survives him. Always cheerful, gentlemanly, courteous and faithful in many family circles bis death in the very prime of his useful life will be mourned today. The funeral services were held in the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church at 4.30 o'clock on Thursday afternoon. Eev. C. E. McDonald, the pastor, conducted the services in the church. The services at the grave were conducted by the Masons and were very solemn and impressive. A large number of Masons were present and among them were Grand Master J. T. Barron, High Priest S. T.
