This makes the streets look very quiet. ?Read the notice of the Treasurer printed in another column. The Samuels Case.?The Samuels case was again before the Clerk on Thursday, the defendant through his attorneys asking for a discharge. Galloway and Mrs. Mary Brice, mother of onr townsman, Mr. Jas. A. Difficulty at Loxgtown. -A difficulty occurred between a white man and negro last Sunday on Mr. Cornwell's plantation. The negro received several light cuts. She was quite aged, about So, and her death was the result of old age, lack of proper f.>od and cold weather. Although having fifteen children and a number of grand and great grand-children, she has in her luifer days been an object of charity. Although she died on Friday, she was not buiied until Sunday, owing to the fact that no crave could be prepared until iromckind friends had it dug. I11 reading over those most excellent biographical sketches of onr Logislators recently published in the jtfews and Courier, we noted some facts which will be of interest to the people of Fairfield. In the list of Barnwei! delegates we see that Representative Geo. W. Morrall received a part of his educa tion at Mt. Zion College. In the Charleston delegation Representative R. C. Barklev was born in Fairfield county, 1824, and received his education at Mt. Zion College. In the Darlington delegation Repro-1 sentation J. E. Nettles received a part ot his education at Mt. Zion, under the management ot" the celebrated Prof. J. W. Hudson. In the Edgefield delegation Senator W. J. Ready received a part of his education at Mr. Zion under Prof. Hudson.
