If a mer chants asks too much for his.gpodg* do not buy from him, but go to another-who sells at a more reasonable price. - Fortunately for you there is competition enough in our town to protect you. If you are not a judge of the articles you want, and .pannot rely upon the honesty of your merchant, you had better get some one who is a judge to make your purchases for you. In the saeof , y,,. Jewelry. there must be hut one price. No one can tell the value of an article in this line by its appearance when new; therefore tlie merchant who lias learned its value from its maker must say what it is worth, and stick to his price if he loses a sale by it. To do .'therwise is demoralizing to the busi ness; for customers will soon conclude that the jeweler lias no settled prices and no conscientious scruples, and will get as much as possible for an article without re gard to its value. When this conclusion Is reached ids trade is gone. We have, in some cases, yielded to ■Importunity of customers aiid gave them goods at reduced prices, hut we had good and sufficient rea sons for doing so, perhaps the goods were a little out of style, or the customer was an object of charity, or we wished to do them a favor. 1.- >• ' » — > • ♦ edMOR & CHANDLER'.
