. t)EATns.—Mrs. Sallte E. Means died
nt this place on Tuesday morning.
Her health had for some time been
I'ailjug, and her death was not unpx-
pectcd. She had reached the advanced
age of eighty-five years, ami had
plways been of a very vigorouc consti
tution. She was a daughter of the
)nte John Means, and the wife of
{he late Rev. Robert Means of the
Presbyterian church. Site was a mem
ber of the Presbyterian church, and a
Christian woman of the highest type.
Her memory will always be reverenced
by her numerous kindred and friends,
The funeral services were held in the
Methodist chiirch'on Wednesday iqorn-
ing, condncted by the Rev. D. E. Jor
dan, and tho remains were interred in
the adjoining graveyard.
Mrs. Sarah Fleming died on Wednes
day morning, of heart, disease., In
spite of her age, her general health
jtad been good, and her end was sud
den. Mrs. Fleming was the widow of
the late ^aipcs Fleming, and was born
in Columbia. She had reached her
eightieth year in January last. She
leaves four children—among theip Mrs.
Elizabeth McMaster and Mrs. M. W.
llrown of this place. Mrs. Fleming
\vas a. consistent member of the Metho-
• jdist church, to the teachings and prac
tices of which she was ever faithful,
and she enjoyed the devoted affection
of kindred and Mends alike. Her
remains were taken to Columbia,
where the funeral services will be held.
Mrs. Sarah Fi Trotti died at her res
idence in Coinmbia on Monday morn
ing of heart disease. Although She
bad been in a critical condition for
several weeks, her end was not ex
pected so soon; but she passed away
perfectly conscious to the last,’ at per
fect peace with her Maker and with
all the world. Mrs. Trotti was the
eldest daughter of Df. David H.
Means, formerly of this county, and,
was born about the, j ear 1820. In her
youth she married lion. S. W. Trotti,
of Barnwell, and lived happily with
him until his death several years be--
fore the war, at which time she re
turned to her old home in Fairfield*
For several yea,v$ she lived in Co
lumbia. Mrs. Trotti htjd no children
of her own, but was a mother to all the
motherless entrusted to her charge.
For many years a member of the Pres
byterian church, her devoted piety,
her amiability, gentleness, charity and
bcneyplence, made her an example and
a pattern to all who knew her. Her
face will be seen no more on earth,
but her memory will, Ippg survive;
and the world will be better for this
conspicuous instance of “a life hid
with Christ fn God.” «
