John t). Haskell and H. A. (’aillard for the defendants. The first case called was against Thomas J. Dawkins, Thomas McGill, Jr., A. E; Davis, Andrew Wallace, John M. Kirkland, James lier ron, Nicholas Pcay, Uayne Mc- Mcekin, John W. Lyles; James Mc Millan and Thos. Aiken, for conspira cy in violating the Revised Statutes, in threatening and intimidating voters. The Government so far has examined -only two witnesses, James It. Martin and J. F- Qorley, white Greenback- 'ers of Richland county. The ‘testimony against the accused tip to date is altogethef WSak and in significant, and totally fails to^comiect these parties with the crime of which they are charged. The cases wilt bo re sumed on the 20th inst. The" deffind- ants on trial^ift all respectable citizens hf Fairfield, and wo shall therefore await the result wijh more than ordi nary interest. Mr. McCullough was re elected Dean of the Convocation and the Rev. Mr. Capers Secretary and j Treasurer. Greotivilio was determined upon as the place for the next meeting, which will beheld in August. A very fair congregation was in attendance upon all tbe meetings and thc Scnices, both in the forenoon and at night; and a liberal sum was con tributed towards defraying the ex penses of the Convocation. On Friday morning a sermon was preached by the Rev. Mr. McCullough, after which the Convocation adjaurned. The meeting was in ail respects a very pleasant and harmonious one; and it will leave tnanv pleasant recollcc- tions with tbe people of Winhshore. Teacher* and Their Fay.
