Now is the time to begin fatten ting your hogs. If you have no crops such as peas, velvet beans, etc., to turn your hogs on, don't try to fatten them on corn alone, as it is too. expensive to fatten hogs on corn alone. Cheap gains can be made by feeding one pourid of tankage to about eight pounds of corn. Your county agent will be glad to - tell you where you can get tankage. You should keep a mineral mix ture before your hogs at til times. The following is a good mixture to: keep before your hoz. Charcoal, one bushel, ashes one bushel, salt eight pounds, air slaked lime four pounds, sulphur four: pounds, and copperas two pounds. Mix the lime, salt, and sulphur thor oughly and then mix with the char-* colti and ashes. Dissolve the cop peras ir one quart of warm watcr and sprinkle over the -whole mass, miing thoroughly. When you get a good rain sow your crimson clover and alfalfa sure, so that these plants will get a good start before cold weather. Also sow oats and vetch and rye. just as soon as possible. If you are going to have some cows to milk this winter and spring from wnich you expect to seil cream don't forget to plant some grazing crops for winter and spring. Also be sure and try to have a nice crop of oats and vetch to cut for hay iiext May and also some Fulghum oats and crimson clover. Remember that a milk cow likes nothng better than alfalfa, so try to have some alfalfa on your farm just as soon as you can, Let's make up our minds now that, we are not going to depend on cot ton elone any longer, but that we will live at home and also get some cash from our milk cows, hogs and chicken.a. State Senator - P. L Bethea will bead the drive in Dillon county. Mr. Bethda is a member of the or ganization committee of the South Carolina Cotton Growers' Co-oper -ative Association and is enthusias tic over the movement.
