This ques- tj tio~n was recently asked a news paper by an anxious inquirer, i and the resulting investigation brought almost a unanimous negative ieply. It is a peculiar fact that colts which afterward become u ilk white are dark h when foild. That thorough- I breds are ne.ver foaled white ap oears to be agreed wherever thorougbreds are raised. Some caim to buvt- s' en colts from a common stoc~k which started life a with a light coat, but even the n< possibility of this is denied by ~ many men of long experience in raising and studying horses. t Colts come into the world with b< a dark or maltese colored hair.a They are that way even if the - sire and dam were pure pink- . skinned white. At first you can't ell what color a colt is going to T be. There is a gradual change mnd you usually know by the ~ime the animal is yearling just how he is going to turn out. Ilodest Claims Often Carry the Most Conviction. When Maxim, the famous gun in rentor, piaeed his gun before a corn nittee of judges, he, stated its carrying be ower to be much below what he-felt he gun would accomplish. The result B >f the trial was therefore a great sur >rse, instead of disappointment. Iti an he same with the manufacturers of hamberlain's Colic, Cholera and St iarrhoea Remedy. They do not pub- ise icly boast of all this remedy will ac- jn :omplish, but prefer to let the users ki nake the statements. What they do :laim, is that it will positively cure ( liarrhoea, dysentery, pains in the N] tomach and bowels and has never Po yeen known to fail. The following advertisement ap ears in a certain newspaper: "Full-blooded cow for sale, iving milk, three tons of hay, a >t of chickens and several stoves." Now that's a cow worth having. iving milk is evidently only a ide line with her. She seems to e a hay farm, poultry yard and Love factory all combined. Her wner can drink her milk, feed er on the hay she gives and cook ae chickens on one of her several Loves. It is not stated how often he gives "three tons of hay, a t of chickens and several toves," but the presumption is hat she does such prodigious tunts daily for in estimating a ow's milk capacity it is usual, 7e believe, to express it so many :allons per day. Neither is it stated as to the :ind and size of stoves given. If, towever, they are of the sixty ive dollar range variety, the own ir ought to be satisfied with one a rear. There is also some in lefiteness about the chicken yield, he size, number, 'etc., in a "lot." But the man possessing such a vonderful cow would be -hoggish ;o be too particular and exacting ie should be truly tbantful for ,ven one frying size pullet a day. A cow of such varied achieve nents should not be expected or equired to keep up to the full imit in any of her numerous lines )f activity. She should be allow ,d to make and carry out her )wn programs. A Tragic Finish. A watchman's neglect permitted L leak in the geat North Sea lyke, which a child's finger could iave stopped, to become a ruin )us break, devastating an entire )rovince of Holland. In like nanner Kenneth McIver, of Vanceboro, Me., permitted a little iold to go unnoticed until a tragic inish was only averted by Dr. King's New Discovery. He writes: 'Three doctors gave me up to die >f lung inflammation, caused by L neglected cold; but Dr. King's .ew Discovery saved my life." Tuaranteed best cough and cold lure, at Jno. H.
