He is anxious to have you call and see them before buying as he knows he can save you money. -Mr.R.W. Matthews and fami lv have maved to Anderson county where they will make their future home. Mr. Matthews has pur chased a farm near the home of Mrs. Matthews' mothaer and he will engage in farming. Their leaving town is to be regretted and they will carry with them the best wishes of friends here in Winnsboro. -Mr. J. M. Jenrings' family moved in last week. They were delayed in moving on account of their failure to get their house hold goods in from Columbia sooner. It took only 10 days for them to get theta in and that too when they were shipped in a chartered car. Such delays are simply awful and there ought to be some redress for failures of this kind on the part of railroad companmes. Library fleeting. There will be a meeting of the Library Association at the town ball this afternoon a~t 5:30 o'clock. A full attendance of all the mnem bers is desired. Notice to Pensioiters. His olfice will remain open for this purpose till Feb. L 28th. After that time the penalty will be put or all, wtho have not attended to this very important matter. All who have not y, t made their returns should do so I at once, so as to avoid a rush in the last days for making the same. Additional Names. Mr. J. H. Neil, who alwaays takes the very greatest interest in everything pertaining to the veteran., has furnished the follow ing additioanl names of veterans still living in Fairfield. Archie Peak, Co. It is very much hoped that the list will be so completely revised that the name of every veteran now in the county will be handed in, for it is planned to publish the complete lisu in a form in which it can be preserved, just as soon as it is fully made up. New Order of Service. The new order of service for the Methodist church will begun with the service Sunday morning. A new hymnal has been prepared [for the use of the Northern and Southern branches of the Metho dist church and is already largely in use. This hymnal contains the new order of service, which provides for responsive readings on the part of the congregation, the repeating of the apostles' creed and the Lord's prayer. There will be a meeting of the congregation at the church this (Wednesday) evening at 7:30 o'clock for the purpose of practic ing some of the new songs. This meetiug takes the place of the * one called for Friday evening. Civic Improvement League. About twenty ladies responded to the call in last week's issue of the News and Herald to meet for the purpose of organizing a civic league. The sentiment of all was heartitly in favor of this a forward movement and and or-! c ganiztion was effected by the L election of the following officers: Mrs. T. I.~ Curetoni, president;g Mrs. U. G.
