The anti-dispensarites can has ten the doom of the Great Mora Institution, if they can only ge Bovd and Cole to continue the: defense of it. If the dispensary could b spared the diligent efforts in it behalf on the part of its avowe< friends, Cole L. Blease and W Boyd Evans, its certain doon might be delayed for a time. The educational issue of th State of August 10 is indeed de serving of the good things that ar being said about it. Its publi cation was a lofty conception an will surely bring good results ii stimulating an increased interes in all educational work in Sout] Carolina. Isn't it rather a pretty com off when a member of a com mittee appointed to investigat the workings of an institution takes the stump in behalf of th the same, while the investigatio: is still in progress? But the: Cole is wholly excusable, as h is doing missionary work in has tening the downfall of the grea political machine. The dispensary investigatin committee is doing little in th way of smoothing things ever an is making some revelations alon the line so much - expected Messrs Lyon and Christenten ar measuring fully up to the ex pectations of their friends tha they would discharge their un pleasant duty in a thorough ani manly way. Elsewhere in this issue ther< is published a call for a mass meeting of the citizens of Fatir ield for taking the necessara steps for voting the dispensary out of the county. Let the meeting e so largely attended as will how that this movement has the acking of the citizens of the ~ounty to such an extent that ts success is fully assured. With the effort once undertaken, here mst be no failure. The Spartanbe:rg Journal is wholly without defense in its publishing contributions, clip pings, etc. in favor of the dispen sary as pure reading matter and yet at the same time accepting I pay for it as advertising matter. In the very nature of circumstan ces such a business policy will o necessarily have its bearing upon 5 the editorial policy of a paper. The safest business policy fur every paper is to print all adver tising matter of any nature what soever in such a manner as it will - appear on its surface that it is an advertisement. So the case was takena up again the next day with a new jury, which found the defendant guilty. The line of his honor was $40.00, which was not paid, h as the case will be appealed.
