I 1 ',-r FURMANMAY CAPTURE RAG Baptists Making Strong Fight for Pennant as State Cham pions. Greenville. April 21.-With the vic-, tory of Purman over Clemson Wednes day a fte rn TI m the race for the state championship takes on a nev/ appear ance. Heretofore, Clemson has won thc race with more or less exertion on their part, for tho past, severa! years. This year, however, Indications point to a close race right down to tho last and with the kind of ball that Kurraan is now putting up there is every reason to believe that Coach Laval's aggregation will finish at the head of the race. Forman has defeated Citadel and Presbyterian college, both members of the S. C. I. A. A., and with the victory over Clemson there remains just three colleges to be met for tho first time-Wofford, Erskine and New berry. Clemson defeated Wofford on Tuesday by a large score so this gives a lino on Wofford's material. Of course, Clemson and Presbyterian college are yet to be played a return game, but local supporters are con fident that Purman will maintain the excellent brand of ball they have put up all season. While, of course, baseball breaks, condition of teams, and other things play their part in a baseball race, yet with an even break of luck there is nothing to prevent Purman from be ing "right there" at the close of tho race. The people of Greenville have an excellent chanco of seeing their col lege team labeled state champion for 191G. and with everybody pulling to gether lt can be accomplished. Wouldn't a pennant look good flying to the breeze out nt Augusta street park? Don't fail to sec oar Easter window. Owl Drug Co.
