| The editor of the Cineinnatti Xotipareil, liav-!
| - ing visited Xorth Bond, speaks thus of General
t Harrison's tomb:
"On a recent visit to the tomb of Harrison,
I situated on otic of the most beautiful sites in
r the western country, at Xorth Bend, we were i
jh pained at beholding the little attention he-tow-1
|H ed upon the ground covering the last resting- J
place of the hero. The lot selected, in which j
9* aw> the remains of'Old Tinoecanoe,'i
j is enclosed around the base in a circular form, j
b w ith a board fence, roughly white-washed. The ;
P long grass has all been trodden down, shrubbery- j
l*' broken, trees cut, and even the wooden door
j-. leaning to the vaults has been defaced and mutilated,
while the rough bricks on each side of
the mound have been loosened and scattered
over the ground forwards around. The earth
on the mound has been ploughed up, as though
the hogs had been rooting there. The tomb,
and all the once-beautiful and enchanting scenery,
have lost all their interest, and the visit to
rthe spot is now anything but pleasant. Thus .
expressing ourselves, we only echo the general I
\r feeling of all who have visit', d the burial-place
this spring."
