Family Intermarriage.?On this subject th
Fredericksburg News says:
"In the country in which we were raised, fe
twenty generations back a certain family c
wealth and respectability have intermarried, ur
til there cannot be found in three of them ,
sound man or woman. One has sore eyes, anoth
er scrofula, a third idiotic, a fourth blind, a fiftl
r bandy logged, a sixth with a head abou
the size of a turnip, with not one of the numbe
exempt from physical or mental defects of som
kind. Yet this family perseveres to intermarr;
wi h each other with these living monuments o
their folly constantly before them.
"It is often done ignorantly by the best peo
pie. Young people never reflect upon conse
quences, and old people are too avaricious to for
bid a match where money is gotten.
"Let the law reach it, and it will be stopped.'
The case in the New Orleans duel, by whicl
I>r. Hunt killed John Frost, has been dismissed
One of the papers says:
Judge Larue excused himself and would not sil
k in the case. Judge Strawbridge declared that h<
" was too unwell to attend, and Judge Buchanar
stated that he had no time. Under tliev cir
cumstances, the District Attorney said that h<
believed he had done his duty in the matter, but
lie could not try the case without a Judge. lie
would therefore move to dismiss the accused.?
Judge Larue then ordered the ease to be dismissed
Antidote for Poison.?Mustard is one of the
best, and always most convenient article to be
used when poison has been taken into the stomach.
Mix a 'arge teaspoonful of it in powder in
a tumbler of warm water, and swallow it at once
If it does not act immediately as an emetic tak<

a tablespoonful of sweet oil, and you are cured,
without a stomach pump of doctor's bill.

IMPORTANT TO CONSUMPTIVES.
In looking over the pamphlet issued by the propritors
of Dr. Rogers's Syrnp of Liverwort and Tar, we
have been forcibly struck with the high public and
private character of those who vouch for its efficacy.
Among them we notice the name of our old acquaintance
and quondam friend, lion. Judge W. Burke. Wc
also 9cc the names of W. J. Richards, Rev. II. Wiseman
and Dr. Hiram Cox. late Professor in the Cincinnati
Medical College, and many others of like character
and standing. If such men are willing, over their
own signatures, to testify thus strongly in its favor, it
must be the most remarkable medicine of the age. and
we advise all our invalid readers to try it forthwith.
