A Brilliant Wedding.
Last Thursday evening will long be remera
bered by our citizens as a bright and interest
ing period in the matrimonial history of Sum
ter County. The principal partie? to this un
usually interesting scene, were Miss Kate Rich
ardson, daughter of Hon. John S. Richard?
son, and Col. D'Arcy P. Duncan, of Union,
son of the late Prof. David Duncan, of Spar?
tan burg.
Long before the appointed hour had arrived
for thc bridal party to make their appearance,
the Presbyterian Church was filled to its
utmost capacity, and the multitude of faces
kept turning, ever and anon, towards the
dcor to catch the first glimpse, as they
came in. At half-past eight o'clock, in ob?
servance with the ':01d English Custom."
the .ushers came first, as follows : Dr. D.
Hamilton and Capt. F. M. Farr; John A.
Abney and Wm. E. Dick; J. M. Dick and
D. B. Anderson ; Chas. E. Barlett and C.
Isadore Hoyt; D. A. P. Jordan and George
Johnson, all of whom walked by twos, ex?
cept the first two, up the right and left aisles
respectively, and met in front of the pulpit,
crossed over and arranged themselves opposite
to where they came in. The brides-maids
next came up the aisles singly, and arranged :
themselves as follows : Misses Maggie Fraser, ?
Celia Moise, Kate McMaster, ilessie McDowell,
Adelaide White, Pauline Dick, Mary Lee,
Kate Douglas, Gussie Solomons and Lena
Cordes. Then followed the bride accompa?
nied by her father, up the left aisle, and the
groom accompanied by the bride's mother, up
the right aisle. The bride was given to the
groom at the alter. The Rev. Jas. McDowel 1,
of Manning, (the bride's uncle) officiated, and
at the close of the ceremony solemnized the
imposing scene by invoking God's blessing
on this happy couple.
After the ceremony, the bridal party with
the few invited guests: consisting of Prof.
W. W. Duncan, Maj, David Duncan, Mrs.
Ruth McLaurin, Miss Martha Bartlett, Rev.
Mr. and Mrs. Edmunds, repaired to ' "Shady
Side,1' (the elegant country residence of the
bride's father,) where everything passed off,
in the true sense of the term, ;tas merrily as
the marriage bells."

For Atlanta.
Several citizens of Sumter and vicinity are
thinking of making up a party to visit the
Exposition at Atlanta, next week, and as
there may be others who would like to avail
themselves of the low rates to be secured by
clubbing together, it has been suggested that
Etil who desire to, and can go, leave their
oames at the office of the Watchman and South?
ron by next Friday Dec. 2d. The programme
for next week promises to be the most interest?
ing to the Planting interest, of any yet.
We invite attention to the schedule of rates ?
for tickets, to be found oa oar first page,
Reports from various sections of the State j

general, and terminated the development of j
the top crop of cotton, which the last few j
weeks of unusually mild weajher had so great- j

general prediction of failure and hard times,!
but numerous statistics show a very fair ;

GEKTLKMEN: I was sutfering Irom cenurfil debility to such an extent that my labor was exceedingly bur?

increased prostration and sinking chills. At this time I began the use of your Iitox TONIC, from which I re?
alized almost immediate and wonderful results. Theold energy returned and I found tbat my natural force
was not permanently pbated. I have used three bottles of the Tonic. Sines using it I hare dono twice the la?
