Why not Sell Cream this Winter?
Butter of 92 score sold on the Chicago
market November 25 foT 53
cents per pound. The creameries in
South Carolina are paying for cream
jn approximately this basis, yet not
many of them are, getting enough
cream to pay overhead expenses.
If you have 3 to 10 cows why not
sell cream to one of these plants?
You can do so without expending
much money to start. Ten average
cows producing two gallons of milk
each per day wil return you a cream
check of $100 to $120 per month
at present prices. Butter is not like
ly to go much lower in price before
grass comes next spring. Then o
course you can produce it cheapei
and the profits will range in about
the same proportions. A regulai
cream check each month will fort if >
you and your family against %e
losses due to the ravages of the bol
weevil.
When you realize that Soutl^g^
lina needs 240,000 ^ cow;
before it can furnia^roe dairy prod
ucts needed by the#rural population
it is evident that cream productioi
for butter-making can not be over
done for many, many years, even ievery
farm ih the state produces i
surplus.
