iPOF/TIlY. "The World and the World." "If nil the world must we t lie world, Ah the world the world hath Keen, Then it were better for the world That tho world had never been! Yet if the world would roc the world Aft the world the world might hoc, Then n happier world than this old world Perhaps could never he. Oh, world that lives upon the world! Yon travel far too ?low ! ? Oh world, green grave of all the world, How wondrous swift von go." FARM AND GARDEN. A Western fanner recommends for scratches on horses an ointment made of equal parts of tar, sulphur and lard, ap plied every day. .- mm -? mm - It is said that a tree fallen w hile in leaf, and permitted to lie until the foliage withers, will season more rapidly than if the limbs are lopped off, as tho leaves draw out all the sap before they die. The light from a tallow caudle can he improved in clearness aim brilliancy by using small wicks which have deeri flipped in spirits of turpentine, and thoroughly dried. To Make Fkesh Yeast.?Thicken two quarts of water with three spoon full of flour, boil half an hour, sweeten with half a pound ot cpnrjgc brown sugar; when almost cold put in four spoonfuls of fresh yeast, put the whole in a jug, shake it well together and leave uncovered one day near the lire, to ferment. Skim oft" the scum and cork for use. Succession may always be had in this way, taking lour spoonfuls of the*old to ferment the new yeast. Unliva there is n (special contract, employers, arc required ^ to pay their laborers, whether by the da; week, month or year, in United Stat?s bank notes or fractional currency, and persons violating this act are liable to a line and imprisonment. This is a down right imposition upon both tho employer and laborer, although the penalties are only imposed upon the employer. The poor laborer unless there is a special contract, cannot receive for his day's work anything but United States bank notes or factional currency, w hich may not ho convenient for his employer to pay, and where provisions or any other equi valent would answer his demands fully as well. Even gold and silver must be es pecially contracted for, in order to avoid the penalties of this law. - ?m ? ? - ? - - The Eau.mhk?' The view s of his neigh bor draws out new thoughts on new sub- j jeets, and these thoughts find expression. | Lawyers guilt strength by long years of study and then by practice at the bar. The young lawyer making his first speech is as miserable and as awkward as the young farmer ma king his first public cflort. The lawyer's business compels him to (swallow embarrassment and annoyance, ami goads him on to effort upon effort. The young farmer, not feeling the necessity for this, makes no further venture. The lawyer goes oil and becomes famous as a good talker, and a fine reasoncr. The same practice would have made the young farmer as good a talker, and it stronger, more eflicient worker in his field of duty. The experiences of well educated farmers bring this and strength. We advise the organization of township clubs on the simplest plan. Arrange the meetings to suit the convenience of all parties, and let the attendance be as regular as church going, WOOI*! WOOI. !
