v Losing
Flesh
You naturally lose flesh in
j the summer and running down
Is so easy. You get a little
weaker each day without hardly
noticing it. There is loss of
appetite, headache, weakness
of the muscles, disturbed sleep,
weakness of memory, and these
) are the beginning of nervous
prostration. Iron and tonics
and bitters may afford some
temporary relief, but what you
need is a food for body, brain
and nerves.
Sc3tw> OmuC&ton,
of C Tliver Oil with the Hypophosphites,
furnishes just the
nourishment needed for those
who are run dov/n and pale and
thin weak. If you lose flesh
in summer take Scott's Emulsion

COLOREDPREACHERSCALL
ON THE GOVERNOR.
Aaiust Lawlessness In the Shape
of Lynching?They are Advised
to Preach Against the cause,
Which They Say 'I hey Have
^ and Will continue to Ho.
Among the callers on (Jovernor
Kllerhe .yesterday was the following
delegation of colored tnin
isiers 01 me Florence District
Conference, which at its meeting
at Timinonsville, July, 25). passed
resolutions condemnatory of lynching
and appointed a commit
tee to present the paper to the
governor. The committee consisted
of A. (i. Townseud, 1\ !?.;
N. T. Spencer, C. 11. Hrown, Sil
as Kasterling, K. I J. Horoughs,
K. J. Sawyer.
Their incmoriol follows.
Your committee on lynching
and general lawleness beg leave
to report that they view with serious
apprehension the growing
( disregard of law and order which
is so painlully manifest through
out the length and breadth of our
country.
In the north, oast, south and
f west the orderly investigation
and punishment of crimes I>y our
time honored courts are too olten
diplaced by heated, excited and
prejudiced .judgement, and the
cruel and inhuman taking of life
by lawless and (iodless mobs.
Your committee wish to submit
that they are suprised at the
failure on the part of the past administration
to bring to justice
the perpetrator* of these crimes
of infamy upon a poor and help
less people. We are alsosurpris
ed at the repeated announcements
made to the public through the
press that the "best people" en
gage in these ivnchings.
This condition of all'airs is fast
becoming alarming in the south;
unless sonething is done, and
<lono spoodilv, to re-establish flu*
majesty of the law, decrease
crime and stop lynching*, an era
of bloodshed, carnage and devastation
such as never has been
witnessed under the stars and
stripes of flu1* American republic
will be precipitated upon us.
We therefore recommend:
1. That the preachers of this
district conference be required.
and all other colored preachers it
the state be requested, to con
deinu from their pulpits any anc
every violation of law, whether ii
be insuli'ng a white child oi
lynching a negro. That they la

against all forms of lawlessness
especially that of mob violence
which is becoming so cotnmoi

do, that more can be accomplishoi
