The Democratic 'ClUb of Town ship No. 4 met in the Town Hall Tuesday evening the 21st inst., and wastcalled to order by F. Gerig, President, w,ho stated that the Club had been convened in obedience to a <ircular.from the ,County Chair, man, General Bratton. The resignation of J. W. Law aw a rep resentative from the Club on thr, County 'Executive Conmittee was accepted, and an clection entered ilto .to fill 'the vacaney. John J. N6il, Esg., having reteived a nejori ty.of .the lotes -cast, was declavel duly elected to fill the vacancy. CJol. J. H. Rion o0'ered the follow.. inig resolutiQn:: .Resolvedl, That while we depre cate the manner in which the noi nation for the 00100e of Clerk was inade at.the late County Conven-' tion, 'we deem it the duty of all the Democrats of f'ai1:field, and of the memnbers of this -Chub, to abide by and support the nominations made by that Conver1tion. The resolution was seconded by Mr, J. H, .Cu.mmings. After some disonssion Mr. Reynolds offered the following as a substitute for Colonql Rion's resohition : R?esolva, That wve hereby ratify and endorse the nominations made by the Democratic County Club on the 14th July last, and pledge our selves to do all in our power to further the success of the Demo. cratic cause. .Resolved, That .we call upon all true Democrats i Fairfield to unite in the eff'ort to bring about a Democratic success -in the ensuing contest. The substitute was secon?ded by Mr. T. Rt. 1lobertson, and further discussion ensued. A vote by yeas and nays b'oing'domanddd, the roll was called, and resulted af follows: yeas 39, rnays 18. Mr. J. H. Cummings offered the followving resiolution: Resolved, That wve deprecate the manner in which the nomination for Clerk was made at the late County Convention. The vote, being called for by yeas and nays, on the adoption of the resolution, stood .as follows :yeas 16, nays 35. The resolution was thereupon declared lost.
