A MOCK SESSION, Amuingscenes In the Houso near m c close of its labors. The Columbia correspondent of The Nes and Co&rier gives th< following account of a mock session hold in the House of Roprosonta tivos just bofore tho final adjourn Mont: The regular Speaker having vacatec the chair, Mr. W. K. Brad' Icy, of Abbeville, a gentleman of Falstaffian proportions, and of most irropressiblo humor, was called to take his place, and complied with out ceremony. It was remarked several times thereafter, in my hear ing, that he "filled" the chair very well, whereby I amni deprived of the opportunity, and consequent small credit, of making that point myself. 1'he new Speaker at once seized the gavel, and, with a mighty thump, ordered "Silence in Court !" A burst of laughter and general coln fusion followed in lieu of ohdienec to this command, and Mr. Speaker pounded away with his little hamunmer -as all tie tcruporary Speakers most delight to do when in his place ,-until order was secured, when hp delivered a short address. Myers, of Beaufort, at once moved to take up a bill changing the names of all the mnemb)ers of a certain family in sonle upper coun ty, which hill has be(n read aid re read and alended, and readt again and referred to committees and rc, ported back and read again, and recommlittei and read again, and read as part of members' speeches, and finally lost and introduced anew and read three tins in each House, and referred, and amended and ip proved, and vetoed by the governor and ordered engrossed, and report ed engrossed, and ordered enrolled and reported duly crrolled, and ratified, &c., &d., until every man and boy in th. two ousire--, amnd many visitors besides, are so f~nuniliar with it as to 1be able to call from muemory~ every name in that large Rndinteresting famuily, and until the simp~le anrnouncement of the bill on1 one of its many readingsm in regular .sossion had become 'tho accep~ted signal for a guflhw. Myers then mnovedl to take up this everlasting bill once muore. The Chair, in well dissembled Aismay, ordered him to take his seat simnmediately. Myers: "Imlnvo it in behalf of the egentleman from Chester," (J1. J. Hoemphill.) Chair, (irrelovantly :) "Not at all! .Not at all:!" Curtis.: "I want to as~k the Chair a question about those co~ws." (Al Iuding to a well known joke on the ,Speaker.) chair, (wvith the gavel:) " Wham /' 'The utmost confusion andl~ good hnmor now prevailed and the Speak ~er kept the the House in a roar of laughter for some time by his extra .ordIinar'y rulings. Then Myers took ~the floor again, and spoke foi' a half hour, until the Chair, and every onc else, weaioed, when the Chair per - emptorily ordered hiis removal fromi the floor. Myers still held on, and the Chair, after an interval, ordered -tho assistant aergeant-at--arms to furnish the Chair with ai "good ibasket of rocks," with which lie pro0 posed to wing the todious~ orator, who, however, finally closed, the Speaker remarkinig as ,he did so, "] .am gladl you are done." The burlesque -was wvell aiustained for nearly or quito an hiour', during which Judge Mackey and Senatoi Gary were called upon to address it eo meeting. Bc~th did so, and Judge Mackey, with that kooen senst of humor for wvhichi he is colebrated, brightened the general eff'ect of th< scene b~y pronouncing in solomn dirgo-like tones the .most humoroui discourqo I ever heard him utter. General Gary came up smiling ir responap to.a resolution ordering hini to I'got married." He was vera happy in his treatment of the them( .montioned, in thme course pf whiol ho showed .his 'familiarity ,with thi oelassica.b; .qting Socrates on tily mubj'p, end 1'is signorance .of th4 .Bibleoby ttrilwtinmg an ox~prossior sof St. Pau~l to sorno one else. (You, .corres ondeilt caught him out oa ihis fl, Nb .)ng elfo .noticed thi orror !) This reminds mo to ro mark that, General Gary must bo more weary of reproaching the Donocratic party with not having strictly adhered to its promisos, made during the campaign. I call Governor Halmpton and all the host a of Democratic speakers and hearers ) who wore present at the tigio to a bear witness that the han<1somo gon oral promised at Edgofield that he liimi, solf would certainly got narried if, and asg soon Is, tho party carried the State after the speaking, and he has not kept his prouiso . On motion, Messrs. Blue, Green, Brown and Gray wero appointed a speciail committeO to investigate the blue-glass theory, and report to the next session. Richardson, of the .Register, was votld seventy-five eontt for the purchase of a wig, and the intock session adjourned sine (lie. Cheap restaurants are becoming a feature of Now York life.
