of Thc People this week that they
have a full Une of Christmas goodies
for everybody, and are prepared to sell
them at prices too low down to admit
of any dissatisfaction. Both these
houses are active, energetic and thor
oughly reliable, and we are confident
all who pay them a visit will consult
economy and save money.
The Senior member of the firm of
Manvllle & Co. went to Charleston on
Tuesday night last to lay !n a supply
of goods for Christmas week. All our
friends in the country arijaeent to

lar house before laying in tbeir Christ

A Good Time.—By reference to the
advertisement it will be seen that the
play of “Ten Nights in a Bar Boom”
will be rendered at Bamberg on Friday
night. 2lst instant. Owing to our not
receiving this information In time the
band bills, which have been circulated,
do not contain any announcement of
the Bamberg performance. However,
we hope the delay in getting the Infor
mation will not cause any lose to the
worthy enterprise, and we confidently
expect to see a crowded bouse greet
the actors at Biiuberg. The Bam-
bergere know as well as any other
peoplo on the globe last how to do any
thing they undertake, and therefore
wt» have.no fears. Between Grahams
s >d Bamberg almost anything might
be accomplished, and as tbs cause for
which the performance la to be glv.nj
is a highly or«df’ able one, we bops the
two towos will i nter into a generous
rivalry to see wfiiob will go further to
wards helpipg the work. On ThursdHy
evening, the 20 h the troupe plays at
Grahams. On Friday evening,, the
21st, the troupe plays at Bamberg.

I see from the papers that they are
having some contention In the general
assembly In regard to the ueury law.
I am aware that much can be said for
and against fixing a rate of interest.
Under the old law fixing the rate at
