At the joint meeting of Barnwell
and Allendale school teacher*, held
here Saturday, the teacher* of this
county are said to have been very
conspicuous by their absence, only
one-third of the total number being
present. So far as The People-Sen
tinel knows, each and every one of
the absentees may have had a per
fectly valid excuse. It is possible,
but rather improbable. Be that as it
may, we believe that the teachers
should attend these meetings. They
are held solely for their benefit, and
they owe it not only tlo themselves,
but to the schools they serve to bet
ter equip themsljeves for their daily
task. It has been suggested that the
trustees of the various schools in the
county urge the importance of attend
ing these meetings upon the teachers
in their employ. Millions of dollars
are being spent annually in South
Caroling upon education and maAy
people are of the opinion that we are
not getting a just return on the in
vestment. It is up. to the teachers
to justify the huge yearly expend!
tore.

A certain automobile salesman was
deploring the fact the other day that
the firm for which he works was able
to get only one coupe of a certain
popular priced car the month of
October. He should worry. In
short time he’ll be getting back a lot
of those sold a few welks ago in the
belief that cotton would sell for 30
cents a pound this fall.

All too often women accept their
pains and aches as natural to' their
sex. They fail to realize that weak
kidneys arc often to blame for that
backache, those headaches, dizzy
spoils and that tired, depressed feel
ing. * Thousands • h.»ve found new
health and strength by helping the
weakened kidneys with Doan’s Pills—
a stimulant diuretic. This Barnwell
case is one of many-.
Mrs. E. R. Collins says: “Mornings
I was tired and my back ached a great
deal. The longer I was on my feet,
the more my back pained. Sharp
pains shot through my kidneys and
for a minute everything went black
before me. My head ached and my
kidneys did not act right. A good
many times I couldn’t do anything,
my back was so sore and weak. Doan's
Pills cured me.”
