Hunter. .-o- I Surprises In The Mayor's Race. Yesterday's election brought a number of surprises. While lt was conceded that either candidate. might win. few expected Mr. Godfrey to win over Mr. Payne by' the majority 4 be secured. It was -confidently asserted by people familiar with conditions,' that tho next mayor would be elected by a majority not exceeding 50 votes. Instead of this Mr. Godfrey secured three times that number, lt was al so a matter of surprise that Mr. Payne carried only one ward. -o Mrs. Mitchell ls Fast Recovering. Anderson people will he interested in learning that the condition of Mrs. J. C. Mitchell was last night said to bo very satisfactory. For some time time Mrs. Mitchell bas been suffering from an attack of appendicitis, short ly after 4 Relock yesterday afternoon she underwent on operation at the Anderson county hospital.
