market was higher today on a bullish
crop report, apprehensions that heavy
rains privately reported in northern
Texas might foreshadow a renewal of
crop complaints from that quarter and
reports that both local spot houses and
Liverpool straddle interests were buy
ing July. Closing prices were steady
at a net advance of points on June
and of 8 to 10 points on the general
list.
The opening was 1 to I points high
er and after some little ir>egularit3'
the market showed increasing firm
ness. Liverpool was better than due
and the rc port of a local authority in
dicating that the crop outlook had de
teriorated more than 2 per cent, bs
fween MBy 25 and .lune 10 seemed to
inspire considerable covering as well
as some frosh buying for long ac
counts. Prices later worked off a few
points from the best under realizing

the syndicate which took over thc
American Telephone holdings of Wes
