o . TOUR PA6IS VOLUME xxxn. ?yt The Horry Exi $ SOME NOT EXEMPTED * FROM FOLLOWING LIST May Soon be Needed to Fill Gaps Caused by Exemptions , -<fe>y District Board on Appeals. The local exemption board of Horry County, last Thursday morning decided to call for examination three hundred more of the young men registered for military duty. They decided to call lf>0 for physical examination here on next Tuesday, September 11th rd 8 o'clock, and the remaining 100 for lite next day, September 12th, 1917. These extra 200 men are not called to form part of another quota which will of course be needed some itmo ir? the future for another increment *. i the new national army; but from tin's throe hundred to be examined next Tuesday and Wednesday, the board will tuke any that may be needed to fill the present quota of 222. li is understood, of course, that the local board here reported to the district board, mere than the required 222 us | hot being exempted by them; but the district board has not yet passed on the appeals made by many of these; and it may be that the district hoard will exempt a great many that the local board did not, and then the local t board will have to make up the number by taking men from this new lot of 300 now under call. ^ The three hundred are to be exam^ ined as follows: the first 150 whose names follow are notified to be here for physical examination on next Tuesday, Sept. 11th, the last 150 ,n the following list are notified to be here on Wednesday the 12th, and the hour is 8 o'clock in the forenoon. Do not confuse this list of 800 with the first list of 466 examined. This present list of 300 come next in order after 466 first examined. If your name appeal's in this list of 300, you may be called to take the place of i* some man exempted out of the first list of 46G: but if vou are not needed I for filling such a vacancy, then you [ will not bo called until probably some timeYin 1918 when the government '< goc o make up the second increment I of t>87,000 men for the national army. This second list of 800 called for medical examination was not decided upon by the local board until after the Herald went to press this week, hence k in order to place the news among' its subscribers at the earliest possible moment regarding this second call, the Herald decided to run half of its edition (tour pages) as a special edition. under date of Sept. 8th, and give I its readers advance information of the action of the local board. At the regular time next week, the Herald will , is?1!*? another four page edition, giving the news up to that time, an.! amounting in all to the regular ij amount of reading matter. See if the name of your son, your m phew your brother, or your friend, appears in this sccor.d list: y "Notices mailed Thursday says: 1 "The following-named persons arc hereby notified that, pursuant to tne 1 Act of Congress approved May IS.
