person charged with petit larceny
has now to be arrested, lodged in ;
i jail and fed at the expense of the I
I county (if he cannot get bail) until
the next ensuing session of the ( \iurt.
All this involves additional burden j
to the counties. As it was before
I
the decision, petit larceny cases were
speedily tried by the Trial Justice,1
acquitted or condemned, at comparatively
small cost. Now the olhce of
I Trial Justice is nearly that of a sinei",
euro. We feel satisfied that this
state of things will not hist longer I
,; titan it can be rectified by the next
, Legislature.
