Liquid Manure. Win. T. limul gives an interest ing ac eoiuit nf experiment- with liquid manure, in a recently published report of t hc Com missioners of agriculture. He leached soap-suds anil house-slops ol' merv Kind through fresh barn-yard manure, and ap plied the liquid tints obtained to thc -oil in Ins hot-house, and it increased the tem perature anil improved the growth of his ! Howers and plants to such a degree that j it seemed tin- work ol'magic. liv adding one bushel of fresh wood ashes to ten of stable inanure, and leach I ing soap-suds, etc., through it, he ?bund the alkali addition had the elfeci of ma turing the woody parts of plants, and di minishing the vine-growing plants. Leach ing soap-suds, etc.. through a peck ol fresh cow droppings, produces a liquid which had a very beneficial cflcct upon vine-growing plants, and the contrary ef fect on fruit-growing ones. During his experiments, in order to ; obtain a valuable I ititi id manure for i universal use, Mr. Hand tilled his hopper with a variety of decaying animal and vegctahle matter, such as rotten wood, decayed weeds, refuse meats, old hones, lime, ashes, old leather, -lops. etc.. in fact, everything of a perishable nature on the tarni. A covering of lime, ashes and sami. kept fermentation beneath thc surface of the mass. In the liquid which oozed thrungli, a hag of charcoal was placed, to deodorize it. In order to lest the value ol' this liquid, he niailc three Ind.- for onions sets. One ol' thcs?- was made of good soil, into which rotten compost, and well decomposed barn-yard manure was work ed. In another phosphates and patent 'lertiii/.ers pere incorporated with the soil. In the third lied the soil was .-paded up ,and saturated with thc liquid manure. Thc result was decidedly in favor of the hitler, tor the -nil prepared with it was so productive that ?he onions matured and were eaten in thc spring, before the j remainder were large enough for usc. A similar result attended the application of the liquid to parsnips, hects and cab hp.ge-. Liquid manure is much more beneficial in a dry season than in a moist one; ils advantages over solid manure be ing very striking during the former season and very slight during the latter, Baulky Horses.
