mander Echley’s cabin, alternately
crying, laughing and embracing. Au

entered the cabin. Commander Schley
stepped to the door, and said: ‘Lieu
tenant your mother is here.’ Mrs.
Greely then entered, and threw her
arms around her son’s neck, saying
only, My son!’ Lieutenant Greely
spoke no word save ‘Mother!’ but In
his tone and expression there was a
world of tenderness. Clasping his
mother in hts arms, tho Lieutenant
did Qythirtg else but sob, while tbo
mother cried like a child.
