Such elec- v tion shall be ordered by thecoun b ty supervisor of such county n upon there being filed with him r before the lstuay of May of such a year, a petition in writing pray <> ing for such election signed by a one-fourth of the qualified elec a tors of such county. Excepting t in the county of Colleton, where ' the petition shall be signed hy n one sixth.
