Camp Fire Girls
Candy Sale Begins
Charles G. Buice, chairman of
the annual Camp Fire candy
sale, announced the sale will
begin today and continue until
a date to be announced.
The well-known candy is sold
once a year as the only fund
raising project of the Commun
ity Chest supported Clinton
Camp Fire Council .Proceeds
will be used to help defray the
cost of summer camp.
Mr. Buice said proceeds will
be the same as in previous years
and that any girl desiring to at
tend camp may pay her own
camp fee by soling candy. Each
girl will receive twenty five
cents toward her camp fee, her
individual group will receive five
cents and ten cents'will go into
the general camp fund.
The candy sales also provide
an opportunity for Camp Fire
Girls to' learn how to handle
money, keep records and work
together toward a common goal.
A certificate of merit will be
presented to the Camp Fire girls
selling the greatest number of
boxes of candy. „ > ‘

Cplu^nbia—Legislation which
wo'uld 'allow Laurens County
voters to decide on increasing
school bond ceilings by 100 per
cent got a favorable report
from the Laurens House dele

Reps. Marshall Abercrombie
and J. C. League reported Sen.
W. C. (Bill) Dobbins’ twin res

The resolutions permit vot

referendum if the constitution
should be amended so that the
school bond ceiling could be
hiked from 8 to 16 per cent of
assessed property valuation.
The county’s dsitricts, 55 and
