Vernon, Ga., on Wednes day of the past week to attend the funeral of his brother-in-law W. M. Peterson. Miss Irene Workman spent the holidays in Batesburg with her sister, Mrs. J. W. Young left Monday to return to 'San Antonio, Texas, after a visit here with his mother, Mrs. Frank Young, and other relatives. Dr. Young is interning at Brooks General Hospital, Fort Sam Houston, and Mrs. Young, RN, is on the staff of the Robert E. Green hospital. Mrs. W. S. Rice and children, Scotty, Susan Katherine, Peggy and Rosemary, have returned to their home in Concord, N. C., after a visit with her mother, Mrs. R. A. Steer and Mr. Steer. Mrs. Rice is the former Miss Mary Barksdale. Mrs. Dan Yarborough was in Gaffney on the 19th to attend the funeral of her uncle, Charles M. Robbs. FORD Fraiuihton Godbolt Ford is now in his second year as an in structor in education at Presby terian College. He joined the PC faculty in September, 1959, from George Peabody College, where be had initiated work on his doctorate in the field of education. Ford received his master's in education from the University of South Carolina after finishing Wofford College with a BA de gree in 1951. His classroom ex perience before coming to Pres byterian included one year each al Inman High and Wardlaw Junior High of Columbia' and two years in the field of excep tional children. , A native of Nichols, S. C., he is a veteran of more than four years service in the U. S. Army, is married and has one child. Ellison's Death On County Road Ruled From Natural Causes Laurens—Ben F. Ellison, 56- year-old Enoree man came to his death by natural causes, it was ruled by a coroner s jury Friday morning. The body of Ellison was found in his parked pick-up truck near Kilgore bride on’the EnOree Riv er Dec. 21. Coroner Marshall Pressley con- dutted the inquest at Laurens County Courthouse. Essie Lou Mathis, 18-year-old Woodruff girl, testified that she went with Ellison to Fountain Inn Monday evening, Dec. 19, and that on the waj^back home they parked beside the road. She said they had been parked about 15 minutes When Ellison "had a spell and fell over.” She said he did not speak after falling over. The Mathis girl said there were no houses in the vicinity and The Greenville Piedmont in subscription contest. Dillard Boland JEWELER 103 E. Pitts St. that she walked back to Wood ruff, a distance of three miles. Under questioning by Sheriff C. W. Wler, she said she did not report the incident "because I was scared.” * ’ J. M. Goforth, 67, of Woodruff testified that the Mathis girl told, him Wednesday morning of the incident and that they drove to gether to the scene Goforth said he found the body of Ellison in Uu p ekup truck and realized that he was dead. Goforth said he went to a store and notii.ed Spartanburg Coun tj officers about finding the body. . Two witnesses, Otis Harkins and Pete Chapman, testified they were rabbit hunting on the morn ing of Dec. 21 and discovered the body and notified Laurens County officers. The body was found in Laurens County. Harkins and Chapman also testified that on the previous morning they had seen the pick up truck and pulled in behind it, but did not investigate. A statement from a physician read at the inquest said that Ellison died of a heart attack.
