CHICORA CLUB WITH MISS YOUNG t*he next meeting of the Chicora club has been changed from Feb. 9th at the home of Mrs. Felder Smith, to the afternoon of February 28th, at 3:30 o’clock at the home of Miss Eliza beth Young on South Broad street. All alumnae of Chicora college and of the college for women also are requested to b? present. THIRTEEN CLUB WITH MRS. A salad cqur^ and tea were served. — > . FAMILY GATHERS “ ON FATHER’S BIRTHDAY Mrs. B. M. Dutton had in honor of fodf ’donrsA dinner. The color scheme of pink and white was carried out. The centerpiece was a large pink and white cake surrounded with garlands of gtaen. On each side of the cake crys tal candelabra held pink lighted can dles. Qnly the immediate family was proeent, these being: 'Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Simpson and family of Monroe, N. Mr; and Mrs. V. D. Ramseur and family, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Poe and son of Greenville, Shannon, L. JUNIOR MUSIC CLUB HOLDS MEETING The Junior Music club met ndth Louise and Elliott Jacobs on Saturday afternoon. Delight ful refreshments were served. “What are you children all dressing up for this morning?” asked Mrs. Rabbit, when she peeked into the chil dren’s room. ‘ “Why, Mother dear, this is iindoln’a birthday. Have you forgotten? I am surprised!” answered Bobbie. ‘Excuse me,” said Mrs. Rabbit. “You see, I ha<'e.so many things to ffiink of that I forget, while you chil dren have only your school.” . The bell in the Rabbitville school house was still ringing as the bun nies scampered out of the house all dresAed np in their Svpday<go-meeting clothes. On the way they were met by Tess’e Squirrel, who was also arrayed in her “bestest” outfit. “Are either of you going to sp:ak a piece?” asked Tessie, almost out of breath from running. . “No-o-o,” hesitated Bobbie. “Are you’" “Yos, but it is very short,” replied^ Tessie. “What of it^” asked Billie, all cu riosity. “Wait and you will get a great sur prise,” said Tessie, as they went up the Rabbitville school stsps. The sun was shining full in the" school room when the exercises began . and when all those who had to speak pieces were through, the teacher said: ‘'We will now hear what it was that made Abraham Lincoln great. Tessie, will you tell us?” Tessie Squirrel walked upon tlm platform amid a profound silence mid said: “The thing which made Abraham Lincoln great waa his LOVE,”- And as the bunnies went home„ fiftl- lie said te Bobbie: “Let’s tell Mother what made Abraham |iiicoIn greaA” “Yes,” replied her brother, “I know what makes Mother great!” Date Padding 1 cup chopped dates, 1 cup chopped' pecans, cup sugar, 2 1-2'table spoons flour, 3 1-2 tablespoons milk, 2 eg?s, 1 teaspoon baking powder. Sift dry ingredients, add milk and egga, then dates and nuts; beat well, bake for 30 pr^ 40 minutes in 'butter^ pan set in lv)t water. Serve with whii^ied cream or foamy sauce. STUDY CLUB HOLDS SESSION ' The Wednesday Study club met with Mrs. J. F. Jacobs, Jr., and enjoyed a study of St. Augustine. Mrs. W. A. Johnson was leader of the following program: W.
