Laurens, S. C., Aug. 20 (Special)—-
(Farmers of the county met In the
Court House Monday morning and
formed the Laurens County Marketing
Association the object of which is to
cooperate with the cotton grader se-
cured for this city and to further the
cause of Cie farmers in this vicinity.
Mr. Geo. M. Wright, president of the
Watts Mills and Banna Manufacturing
Company was present and gave a val
uable talk on the value of improving
the grades of cotton grown here and
the benefits of careful ginning and
storing of cotton after it is harvested.
County Agent Moore also made a short
address explaining the work to Lc
done by the cotton grader.
The following officers of the asso
ciation .were elected for the coming
year: Pres., G. H. Bolt; Vice Presi
dent, Mr. Workman, of Qinton; Sec
retary and Treasurer, County Agent

Policy Regarding Mexico v

Washington, Aug. 14.—The first de
finite move toward the long expected
change in policy in dealing with Mexi
co was disclosed today.’
Carranza has been warned that if
the murders and outrages continue
against Americans, "the United States
may be forced to adopt a radical
change in its policy with regard to

With the announcement at the state
department, however, came no au
thoritative indication of how far the
American government is preparing to
go to enforce what lacks only the dip
lomatic technicalities of an ultima
tum.
The government announced its ac
tion by pubishlng an exchange 'of
' notes with Mexico City, and prefaced
1 its official statement with the explana
tion that the diplomatic representa
tions referred to had been taken “in
view of the long series of murders and
out-rages of American citizens in
Mexico, culminating in the murder of
Peter Catron in San Luis Potosl last
month, and the perpertration of other
