Jacobs, Jr., Messrs. Len Rounds, A1 Brice, ®. K. Frick, "Walter Rich,bourg, and Claude Woricman. Mrs. W. P. Jacobs entertained the Knitting Club on Thursday af ternoon and served to her guests an elegant salad course. The guests present were: Misses Jessie Dil lard, Dorcas Mason, Emmie Robert son, Mittie Young, Mesdames John Young, Cyrus Bailey, Ferdinand Jacobs and Kenneth Burdette. Dillard, Mrs. J. K. Hatton, Mrs. John Little. Mrs. Coleman served delicious cream, cake and candy, and the evening was one of much pleasure. ^ . Mr. and Mrs. t - Irvin . Coleman again delightfully entertained at rook oh Thursday evening. Tables been arranged for ten couples and much merriment was causec throughout the games by the high bidding. Mrs. Charlie Wallace and Miss May Owens served ,'a refreshing fruit punch. Later Misses Agnes, Mary and Elise Henry and Miss May Owens served cones of cream. The out-of-town guests' were: Miss Carrie Fleming, Cecil Roper, Nash Phil pot and Laurens Phil pot of Laurens,'Miss Eugenia Drennan of Richburg, Miss Margaret Motte of anta ahd Mi Texas Miss Irene Wilburn entertained on last Thursday night at a sup- j>er in honor of her guest, Miss Edna iKng, of Pelham, Ga. After supper ttoe evening was spent playing rook and a jolly time \vgs had by those present. DIAL CATCHING ON. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Donnan en tertained in a delightful manner at a four-course dinner. Miss Ethel Davjdson assisted Mrs. Don nan in entertaining. The follow ing guests were present: Mr. and Mrs. D. W. Mason and Mrs. Julia Griffin entertained at a beautiful morning party at the home of Mrs. Uulia Griffin on Tuesday. One hundred and twenty-five guests were invited and tables were ar ranged for seventy-five who were pleasantly entertained by playing rook. The guests were met by Mrs. Mason and Mrs. Griffin and invit ed to the punch bowl which was presided over by Misses Dorcas Newberry Paper Says the Senator Seems to have Made a “Killing:” with the Newspaper Correspond ents. Senator N. B. Dial seems to have made a “killing” with the newspaper correspondents of Washington, says the Newberry Herald and News in writing editorially of the senator’s _We believe that the high class, am bitious young men of this city are Clinton’s greatest potential asset. ■M?*. The following is how the Newberry paper speaks'of these things: “Senator Dial seems to have made a “killing” with the newspaper corre spondents over in Washington, espe cially those of our papers down in this neck of the woods. He gets “played up” nearly every day. It may be that he Is doing big things up in Washington, and we hope that he is, but we sometimes wonder what has become of “Cotton” Smith, and if we have any congressmen over there from down in South Carolina. Copeland, Miss Jessie pleased the guests with a number of vocal and instrumental selec tions. Mrs. Jodie Chandler, Miss Miss Emmie Robertson, Mrs. Mason and Mrs, Griffin served an elegant salad course with iced tea. Misses Agnes and Mary Henry and Mr. Edward Henry entertain ed on Tuesday evening.
